  • In recent years celebrities such as Niall Breslin (Bressie) and Ellie Goulding have highlighted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as being the most effective treatment for their anxiety problems.   • Why CBT?

    Many children and teens have problems that affect how they think, feel and behave (act). CBT is a type of therapy that helps them work through these problems and learn more effective alternatives.

     

    During therapy sessions, kids have an opportunity to talk and learn how to work out their problems. Kids who learn to cope better - feel better, and do better.

    Kids learn by doing

    Support kids in believing in themselves

    In therapy, kids learn by doing. With younger kids, this means using play techniques and activities such as: games, drawing, puppets, miniature animals, sand tray work, associative story-telling and talking. For older kids and teens, talking through feelings, sharing activities and ideas and learning new skills helps them work towards problem solving.

     

    The aim behind therapy is to support kids in believing in themselves, finding their inner strengths and building good feelings like confidence, courage, and hope.
